The Straight Scoop on Fish
Greetings Fish Fans!!
Here at Fish, we believe that everyone is family, from the customers to the dishwasher and everyone in between. We try to create a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you want to sit down and stay awhile. Our servers are friendly folks who are largely quite knowledgeable about the different kinds of seafood we offer, so be sure to ask them about anything you might be interested in. We also believe that when you go out to eat, you should get exactly what you want, so don’t be afraid to create your own meal from scratch, or make changes or additions to anything we offer on the menu or specials board. We are happy to oblige.
Mike & I are often asked how Fish came to be, so here is the straight scoop on our little restaurant so that the next time you come in, you feel even more like a member of the Fish family. Mike was born and raised in Fort Collins, and got his first job in high school at the now legendary Pelican Fish washing dishes, making salads and prep cooking. He left Fort Collins after high school and moved to Boulder to attend CU. After many years of working in and managing kitchens, Mike moved to Canada and opened his first restaurant in Salmon Arm, BC. Several successful years later, it was time to return to his roots and he moved back to Fort Collins. After assessing his options, Mike realized that what downtown Fort Collins lacked was an excellent seafood eatery, so he opened Fish in October of 2001.
Among the first people Mike hired to staff his new venture was a spunky little chick by the name of Kat Broome, me! I took an immediate liking to Mike, and though he tried very hard to ignore me, I was relentless and we eventually began dating. Six years later, we married, and soon after we welcomed our first son, Jason. His brother Gray followed two years later, and the seven years of raising children and running a restaurant sped by in a blur. In July of 2017, Mike and I decided to shake things up a little bit, and I took over day to day operations at the restaurant and Mike took a job at Dive Rescue International, where he is able to pursue his love of diving and emergency services full-time.
We appreciate you taking the time to explore our website and learn a little more about us. Next time you come in, please take a minute to introduce yourself. We are both bad with names but good with faces, and love meeting new friends. You can catch me behind the bar cutting fish or running the floor most nights and many days, and Mike mans the cut station on Friday nights.. If you have any comments or questions for us, please give us a call anytime or shoot us an e-mail from the Contact Us section of the website. Looking forward to seeing you soon!!
